The Volkswagen Supervisory Board approved a plan that foresees the layoff of 50,000 workers. The automotive group had previously announced its intention to cut 50,000 jobs in Germany by 2030, mainly in its main brand, VW.
Now, an additional 50,000 workers are added to the cuts plan, which raises the total number of jobs affected. This reduction represents approximately 15% of the total workforce of the Volkswagen group.
The plan essentially targets the Volkswagen brand in Germany, where most of the group's jobs are concentrated. The decision comes in a context of need for restructuring and cost reduction on the part of the automotive manufacturer.
