The United States is investigating an attack that struck a wedding celebration in southern Iran. The incident occurred on Tuesday in Kuhestak, during a wedding party, causing at least five dead and dozens wounded, according to Iranian state television.

A Reuters analysis, based on verified images and military expert assessments, concluded that the explosion was caused by the direct impact of a US munition. The photos and videos analyzed indicate that the munition struck the celebration directly, without ricochet.

US authorities informed that they are investigating the incident to determine the circumstances of the attack. Iranian state television updated the death toll to five people.
