Mozambique expects to grant concession for almost 200 kilometres of national roads in 2027

SAPO Notícias4 September 2026 at 07:17

Mozambique expects to grant concession for almost 200 kilometres of national roads in 2027. The National Roads Administration (ANE) is the entity responsible for managing this concession process.

The roads involved are N2, N3 and N4, totaling almost 200 kilometres that will be granted under concession. The selection of the future concessionaire is planned for 2027.

In the specific case of N4, an anticipated management transition is planned, which should occur before the current concession ends, scheduled for 2028. This anticipation allows for preparing the transfer of responsibility with greater advance notice.

Portugal's (limited) shield against rising interest rates

Portugal managed to reduce its public debt by more than a third over the past six years, which, combined with the fact that only a small portion of the debt is subject to rising interest rates, creates significant protection against higher financing costs. These two factors act as "shields" that mitigate the impact of rising interest rates on the Portuguese economy. According to the analysis, Portugal's central problem is no longer convincing markets of its fiscal discipline; rather, a different underlying issue is what the country now faces.
