Study: workers say AI makes them appear more competent than they are

Euronews Portugal4 September 2026 at 06:27

A study that surveyed nearly 10,000 workers in Europe and the Americas concluded that the majority of employees see artificial intelligence as a boost to their professional reputation. The results show that many workers use AI tools to present themselves as more capable than they actually are.

According to the study, 64% of respondents admit to using AI to perform tasks they would not be capable of executing on their own. This data raises questions about the authenticity of the skills presented by workers.

The situation has placed managers in a position of doubt regarding the granting of promotions. Supervisors now face difficulties in evaluating what the actual skills of their employees are, given the widespread use of AI tools in the workplace.

Study indicates that plug-in hybrid cars are more polluting than expected

A study by the ICCT (International Council on Clean Transportation) revealed that plug-in hybrid cars are significantly more polluting than predicted. The main cause of this discrepancy is that the owners of these vehicles charge them less frequently and use electric mode less regularly than initial calculations estimated. This discovery raises questions about the real environmental effectiveness of plug-in hybrids as an alternative to fully electric vehicles or traditional combustion vehicles.
