Russia summons Norwegian ambassador to protest ship seizure

The Russian government summoned Norway's ambassador in Moscow to protest against the seizure of a Russian ship in the Svalbard archipelago, territory that belongs to the Kingdom of Norway and is located in the Arctic Ocean.

The governor of Svalbard announced on Wednesday the seizure of the ship "Professor Molchanov", following a court ruling issued on August 31 by Norwegian justice in favor of the Ukrainian oil company Naftogaz.

The action was carried out by Norwegian authorities, who executed the seizure order related to the dispute between the Ukrainian oil company and Russia.
