Minister Alexandre de Moraes, from the Supreme Federal Court, requested from the Federal Police reports implicating colleague André Mendonça on the same day the latter, rapporteur of Operation Compliance Zero, made public a document revealing the relationship between former banker Daniel Vorcaro and the rapporteur of the fake news inquiry. The decision was made on September 1st, according to a dispatch in which Moraes forwarded the documents to Minister Fachin.
The PF reports indicate that Mendonça would have, in theory, committed conduct classified as administrative improbity, crime of responsibility and abuse of authority. According to the dispatch, there was "breach of judicial impartiality and favoritism toward determined political groups".
Moraes explained that there were reports of intelligence documents in the Federal Police systems involving eventual criminal acts. The investigations point to attempts to direct the production of evidence for false imputation of crime to STF ministers.
The decision represents a new chapter in the internal conflict between the court's ministers, with repercussions on judicial independence and the functioning of investigations involving members of the court itself.
