The Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro ruled on 1,019,034 cases and issued 1,564,257 decisions in the first six months of 2026, according to data from the National Justice Council. This milestone was accompanied by a significant drop in the court's congestion rate, supported by new systems and tools in the services provided to citizens of Rio de Janeiro.
Of the 943,261 new cases registered in the first half of 2026, First Instance remains the most sought-after branch by the population, concentrating 564,748 cases, which represents 59.8% of the total. The Special Courts came in second, totaling 264,607 new cases, corresponding to 28.1% of the total volume, functioning as a fast-track entry point for everyday disputes, such as debt collection and consumer conflicts.
