The Supervisory Board of Volkswagen approved a plan that foresees the layoff of 50,000 workers. The decision was announced after a meeting of the board's executive committee.
The announcement was made before the plenary meeting of the group's supervisory body, which is based in Wolfsburg. The plenary meeting was scheduled for Friday.
