The Municipality of Oliveira do Bairro held a reception session for teachers and non-teaching staff of the School Grouping of Oliveira do Bairro (AEOB), an event that marks the start of the 2026/27 school year. The event took place at the Dr. Alípio Sol Arts Barracks and was attended by the Mayor, Duarte Novo, Councilor Susana Martins, and representatives of Parish Councils and other municipal entities.

Duarte Novo welcomed everyone present, highlighting the Municipal Council's confidence in the work of all professionals, including the 125 technical assistants placed by the municipality in the schools. The mayor also recalled a study that predicts that Oliveira do Bairro will be the youngest municipality in the Centro Region in 2030, as a result of the work developed in Education, health, employment, and housing.

Joaquim Almeida, Director of the Grouping, reinforced the need for unity among all members of the school community, noting that, although each one works in one of the 12 schools of the Grouping, "we are one grouping." The motto for this school year is "Living Values," with the director giving a new meaning to the AEOB acronym: Acolher (Welcome), Escutar (Listen), Ousar (Dare) and Bem-Fazer (Do Well).

Classes for the 3,370 students of the AEOB begin on September 11. This school year also marks the full operation of the Secondary School of Oliveira do Bairro, after rehabilitation works of about 18 months, with an investment of over 4.8 million euros funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
