Jornal Económico4 September 2026 at 00:07

The Tourism Schools of Portugal have applications open until September 16 for filling the last available vacancies in courses for the next academic year. The training offer is presented as a direct opportunity to enter the hospitality and tourism sector, which continuously seeks qualified professionals.

According to the Professional Insertion Study 2025, 92% of graduates are working or pursuing studies six months after completing their training. Of the total graduates inserted in the labor market, 87% work in the sector they specialized in and 71% found employment in less than a month.

The 12 Hotel and Tourism Schools in the network were subject to an infrastructure, equipment, and learning environments modernization plan, financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The investment covered the creation and renovation of kitchen laboratories, individual kitchens, auditoriums, bar and sensory analysis laboratories, in addition to the reinforcement of digital equipment, ICT rooms, and pedagogical furniture.

Carlos Abade, President of Turismo de Portugal, stated that the equipment update allows for strengthening the schools' capacity to prepare increasingly qualified professionals. The school network, internationally certified by the World Tourism Organization, trains annually over 2,500 students in regular courses and provides continuous training to over 35,000 professionals.

European Union without immediate risk of gas supply despite low reserves

The European Commission announced that, although EU gas storage levels are below those recorded in previous years, there is no immediate risk to energy supply security. The Gas Coordination Group's assessment indicates that the EU is more prepared than in 2021 and 2022, thanks to the diversification of supply sources, increased LNG import capacity and reduced demand. However, instability in the Middle East keeps Qatar's LNG production suspended, and heat waves in Europe increased gas demand for electricity production, causing price volatility. Portugal stands out with 93.08% of reserves full, one of the highest rates in the EU. A new group meeting is scheduled for September 24.
