Davi Alcolumbre reacts to request for removal from Senate Presidency

cbn3 September 2026 at 22:03

The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), again criticized the posture of some senators without naming names. He stated that people compete to see who "offends more" and hide behind phones or bots to attack. According to Alcolumbre, some colleagues "have no proposals for Brazil" and base their mandates on attacks.

The speech occurs amid the opposition's strategy to attack Alcolumbre in a coordinated manner. The goal is to pressure him to include on the agenda an impeachment request against Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

On Thursday, Senator Carlos Viana (PSD-MG) filed a request for the removal of the president of the Senate. The request is part of the coordinated attacks by the opposition.

Alcolumbre expressed frustration with the situation, saying that what they are doing to people's honor is unacceptable. He suggested that colleagues could present concrete proposals, such as improvements for education, infrastructure, and for the input and fertilizer environment, reducing Brazil's dependence on Russia.
