Justice grants injunction preventing dismissal of delegate in SP

cbn3 September 2026 at 22:11

The Justice of São Paulo granted an injunction that prevents the dismissal of delegate and federal deputy Carlos Alberto da Cunha from the Civil Police. The decision by Governor Tarcísio de Freitas was published in the state's Official Gazette, but the provisional judicial order came after a request from the parliamentarian's defense. Judge Álvaro Torres Júnior understood that there was a risk of the dismissal being carried out before a more thorough analysis of the case.

Da Cunha had been the target of a disciplinary process since 2020, when he arrived late to a police operation in the East Zone of São Paulo's capital. In the operation, the agents freed a kidnapping victim and staged the action so that it could be filmed and shared on social media and television.

In addition to the disciplinary process in the corporation, the delegate was also accused in regular courts of having committed abuse of authority and illegal coercion. He became a defendant in this case, but has not yet been tried. Da Cunha also faces another lawsuit, which was not detailed in the available portion of the article.
