The President of the Republic did not comment on the motion of censure against the Government presented by Chega. António José Seguro stated that he does not send messages through third parties and that he will speak on the topic when he considers it to be the appropriate moment, without specifying when that will be.
Within the PSD, the prime minister Montenegro's party, criticism emerged against the leader of Chega, André Ventura. The social democrats' dissatisfaction was directed at Ventura for having repeatedly spoken on behalf of the President of the Republic, which reportedly caused discomfort within the party.
The motion of censure was presented by Chega, a far-right party, against the minority government of the PSD. This initiative comes in a context of political tension, with the executive depending on agreements with other parties to pass legislation in Parliament.
Seguro thus remains removed from the immediate political dispute, preferring to wait for the moment he considers opportune to publicly speak about the motion of censure and the governmental situation.
