Paula Teles is the Coordinator of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (PMUS) of Leiria, whose document is in public discussion until the 15th. The plan has generated intense discussions among Leiria residents and beyond, with passionate exchanges of arguments about the proposed measures.
Paula Teles was present at a meeting promoted by the Municipality of Leiria in August, where she heard criticisms and defended her ideas about the plan. The meeting allowed a direct confrontation between the PMUS coordination and citizens interested in the proposed changes.
The specialist defends that the environment and the response to climate problems should be at the center of concerns, emphasizing the need to think with a view to the future in urban mobility decisions.
Leiria has the highest motorization rate in the country, exceeding 80%, which makes the challenge of the transition to more sustainable mobility particularly complex for the municipality.
