The Central Bank announced changes to the Pix fraud dispute process and the prohibition of advertisements on payment receipts. The new rules take effect on March 1, 2027. The changes to the fraud dispute button were reported by GLOBO.
The self-service tool was created in October of last year and allows fraud complaints to be made in a 100% digital manner through bank and fintech apps, in order to streamline the process in the Pix Special Return Mechanism (MED).
In Thursday's announcement, the BC states that the new process facilitates the identification of the type of scam or fraud suffered, through situations presented in everyday language, and provides fields where the user can contextualize and detail what happened, including the possibility of attaching documents and proof.
This information is essential for analyzing the suspected fraud, both by the victim's institution and by the institution receiving the funds, allowing for faster and more efficient resolution of cases.
