The outgoing president of the UN General Assembly, Annalena Baerbock, warned that the organization will not survive the current era described as "so fragmented" without profound reform. The warning was given approximately one week before she leaves office.
Baerbock emphasized that the UN faces unprecedented challenges due to the current geopolitical landscape, characterized by deep divisions among member countries. According to her, the organization needs to undergo significant structural changes to be able to respond to conflicts and global crises.
Baerbock's departure from the General Assembly presidency marks the end of a term marked by attempts at dialogue amid growing international tensions. Her successor will have the task of continuing the work of restructuring the multilateral institution.
