The University of Coimbra (UC) launched a social prescribing initiative aimed at combating social isolation. The program started with 15 formalized partners, whose collaboration protocols were signed today.
Social prescribing is an approach that directs people in isolation to community activities and local resources, aiming to improve their well-being and social connection.
The collaboration protocols signed today formalize the partnership between UC and the 15 organizations involved, establishing the foundations for the joint implementation of the program.
This initiative emerges in the context of growing concerns about the effects of social isolation on the physical and mental health of the population, especially in vulnerable groups.
