The President of the Bar Association, João Massano, warned of signs of regression in women's rights in Portugal. During a public intervention, Massano pointed out what he perceives as a concerning trend in society.
João Massano identified the conservatism that currently exists in society as the main factor behind this regression. The official highlighted that this movement has been visibly causing women's rights to regress.
As an example of this trend, the President pointed to the manosphere phenomenon. This phenomenon, which encompasses predominantly male online communities, has been associated with anti-women's rights discourse.
The warning comes in a broader context of debate on gender equality in Portugal, where figures from institutions such as the Bar Association are speaking out about the need to protect the advances made by women.
