The Feira do Monte takes place in Santiago do Cacém, in the district of Setúbal, between Friday and Sunday, featuring around 90 exhibitors linked to crafts, regional products and tourist activities. This year's edition includes a street market, gastronomy, musical performances, entertainment activities, traditional games, workshops, snacks and entertainment for all ages.
On the main stage, musicians Valete on Friday, Marisa Liz on Saturday and Ana Moura on Sunday to close the event will perform, as well as DJs, Alentejo folk singing, fado at "Tasca do Malafaia" and the group Acordeão Fadista. The folk dance group Rancho Folclórico Ninho de Uma Aldeia will also perform and run a dance workshop.
Visitors can attend showcooking sessions with chefs David Santos and David Vitorino, who will prepare arroz-doce and tomato soups, and taste wheat porridge, homemade bread, tomato jam, merendas (traditional snacks), roasted sweet potatoes, liqueurs and regional wines. The craft workshops will highlight basketry, cork, leather, embroidery, sewing, ceramics and Arraiolos needlepoint.
During the event, awards will be given for best stand and best craft piece or regional product, as well as the prizes for the 10th Photography Competition. The fair has origins in the 16th century, when it was held around the old church of Nossa Senhora do Monte.
