The CHEGA parliamentary group in the Legislative Assembly of Madeira submitted a Vote of Commendation dedicated to the secular tradition of the Fachos of Machico and the Associação Fachos. The initiative aims to institutionally recognize this historical manifestation.

The Associação Fachos is the entity responsible for the organization and safeguarding of this tradition. It is its responsibility to ensure the preservation and continuity of the Fachos as an element of Madeiran heritage.

The parliamentary vote of commendation arises with the objective of consecrating the value of a unique heritage of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. This is a form of official recognition by a political force represented in the regional assembly.
