Ronaldo Lessa (PDT), former governor of Alagoas for two terms and current vice governor of the state, formalized his resignation from the second alternate candidacy on the Senate ticket. The ticket was led by Marina Cândida (PSDB), wife of former Maceió mayor JHC (PSDB), who is running for governor of Alagoas in the 2024 elections.
The resignation request was submitted to the Electoral Court on Wednesday (2) and opens space for a change in the composition of the tucano ticket. In the letter sent to the Regional Electoral Court of Alagoas (TRE-AL), Lessa states that he resigns "due to a matter of restructuring the majority ticket for senator by the Coalition" and requests the cancellation of his candidacy registration.
The document also asks that the coalition be notified to provide the substitution for Lessa in the second alternate position. The resignation letter is dated August 24, although it was only presented to the Electoral Court on October 2, the date it was officially filed.
