Volunteers remove 400 kilos of trash from Marinha Grande

Diário de Leiria3 September 2026 at 18:00

A group of volunteers collected 400 kilos of trash in the Marinha Grande area, in a cleanup action that raised awareness about the growing problem of waste abandonment in the region. The initiative was organized by the One Piece After Another association, which has been sensitizing the community to environmental issues related to pollution and waste.

The volunteers covered the area identified as affected by the illegal dumping of waste, collecting a significant amount of trash in just one action. The association warns that this type of situation has been repeating frequently in Marinha Grande, showing a concerning trend of illegal waste disposal.

The One Piece After Another advocates that greater intervention is needed from the entities responsible for waste management and environmental enforcement. The association calls for more effective measures to be taken to prevent littering and to hold accountable those who commit these acts of pollution.

The volunteers' action highlighted not only the scale of the problem of abandoned trash in Marinha Grande, but also the importance of community participation in environmental protection. The association continues to advocate that the solution to this problem lies in a combination of greater enforcement, environmental education, and active citizen involvement.
