The Municipality of Valpaços today opened the new Camper Van Park, a facility created to strengthen tourist accommodation capacity and attract a growing segment of visitors to the municipality. The space, with approximately 1,300 square metres, is prepared to accommodate caravans and motorhomes, featuring eight parking and staying pitches, lighting, tree planting, reception, bathrooms and sanitary facilities, including structures adapted for people with reduced mobility.
Among the amenities, a service station for motorhomes stands out, equipped for potable water supply, wastewater discharge and waste disposal. The park also features a digital check-in system, which allows users to independently complete their entry registration 24 hours a day.
The location integrated into the urban fabric of Valpaços is another advantage of the facility, being close to commercial establishments, restaurants, services, banking institutions, the Parish Council and the GNR Territorial Post. The construction of the space also valued elements associated with local identity, with emphasis on the use of regional granite.
The project results from an application funded by Turismo de Portugal, through the Line of Support for Tourist Valorisation of the Interior – Valorizar Programme. During the visit to the new facility, the Mayor of Valpaços, Jorge Mata Pires, highlighted that the infrastructure represents a reinforcement of the municipality's capacity to welcome visitors and an investment in local tourist and economic enhancement, seeking to transform tourists' passage through the municipality into stays and greater connection to local trade, restaurants and services.
