The Portugal Under Cup 2027 was presented this morning at Estádio Manuel Lima, in Monção. The Municipality of Monção is continuing the tournaments organized in previous years, intending to extend participation to more age groups and increase the number of competition days, estimating a total of five thousand athletes involved.
The Mayor of Monção, António Barbosa, revealed that the goal is to transform the event into the largest youth football tournament in the country, without growing at any cost. The kick-off is scheduled for Easter, coinciding with the school holiday period, with around 1500 young players expected in this first phase.
Teams from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy and England have already confirmed their participation, and the organization is in contact with other countries such as the United States, South Korea, Ireland, the Netherlands and Germany.
Ricardo Felgueiras, president of the Football Association of Viana do Castelo (AFVC), was present at the ceremony and expressed his conviction that the tournament will become the largest youth development event in the country. The specific date of the event has not yet been defined, but the organization promised to announce it shortly.
