Accident/Elevator: Association considers 'culturally unacceptable' solution for Gloria elevator

The association Forum Cidadania Lx considered today that the solution found for the future Gloria elevator, in Lisbon, which provides for modern equipment by 2029, constitutes a "culturally unacceptable" decision. The association expressed itself against this resolution, defending the need to safeguard the heritage of this National Monument. The Gloria elevator is one of the historic landmarks of the Portuguese capital, and any intervention that alters its original nature has generated public debate. The conflict arises between the need for modernization for security reasons and the preservation of the historical and cultural value of the monument.
