Brazilian cinemas break attendance and revenue records in the best August in history

Brazilian cinemas broke the attendance and revenue record for August in the entire historical series. In the month, the box office totaled R$ 410.3 million with the sale of approximately 17.9 million tickets, according to unprecedented data from Rentrak. Compared to August of last year, the growths were 169% and 111% respectively. The best results for the month had been recorded in 2016 and 2019, when 13.8 million spectators were counted.

The rise was driven by the film "Spider-Man: A New Day," which premiered on July 30. Since arriving on the big screens, the film raised R$ 361 million and was watched by 15.76 million people. It is already the fifth highest attendance of all time in Brazil and is approaching "The Lion King," from 2019, which occupies fourth place.

In the accumulated for 2026, the box office totals R$ 2.13 billion, an advance of 27.5% compared to the same period last year.
