JPP accuses PSD/CDS of disregarding complaints from Lazareto residents about the WWTP

Funchal Notícias3 September 2026 at 16:01

The councilors from Juntos Pelo Povo (JPP) at the Funchal City Council publicly expressed their regret regarding the position taken by the PSD/CDS majority. The PSD/CDS majority rejected a Recommendation Proposal presented by JPP that demanded the urgent resolution of the bad odors problem in the area surrounding the Lazareto Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).

This situation directly affects the residents of the Lazareto area, who have been filing complaints about the bad odors coming from the WWTP. The JPP councilors consider that the rejection of the proposal by the PSD/CDS majority represents a disregard for the concerns and complaints of these residents.

The JPP party understands that the resolution of this problem should be dealt with urgently, having presented a formal recommendation proposal in an attempt to resolve the odor issue in the area surrounding the treatment plant.
