Douro winegrowers dumped 300 kilos of grapes on the street as a form of protest, demonstrating their discontent with the current situation in the sector. Producers are mobilizing on social media to organize the continuation of their protest actions.
The winegrowers promise to bring the protest to the opening of Vindouro, an important event for the wine sector in the region. At the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the Minister of Agriculture are expected.
The protest comes at a time of tension between Douro wine producers and the government, with winegrowers expressing their complaints regarding the conditions in the sector. The presence of high-ranking government figures at the event is expected to result in a direct confrontation between producers and authorities.
