The Liberal Initiative (IL) questioned the State's role in the sale of the so-called "Casa de Lourdes Castro", considering that the controversy surrounding the announced sale of this property is revealing of the way the State, the Autonomous Region and the Municipal Councils treat Portuguese cultural heritage.
Through a press release, the party recalled that the cultural, architectural and historical relevance of this space, associated with the life and work of artist Lourdes Castro, has been recognized for several years.
According to IL, Lourdes Castro herself considered the garden as an integral part of her home and artistic creation, emphasizing the importance of the space in the context of her work.
The party criticized the way public entities handled the issue, hinting that the State did not act appropriately to preserve this cultural heritage associated with the well-known artist.
