Queiroz points to AFCON 2027 as a 'golden entry' for Ghana to the 2030 World Cup

The Portuguese national team coach Carlos Queiroz considered that Ghana's participation in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations represents a 'golden entry' for the African side into the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly organized by Portugal, Spain and Morocco.

The Portuguese coach confirmed he is writing a 'new chapter' leading the Ghanaian national team, known as the Black Stars, after taking charge of the team.

Queiroz, who has already coached several African national teams, including Egypt, appears to see AFCON 2027 as a crucial opportunity to prepare Ghana for the first edition of the World Cup with 48 teams, which will take place on the Iberian Peninsula and in North Africa.

The challenge of taking Ghana to the 2030 World Cup emerges as the major objective of Queiroz's tenure with the Black Stars, with the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations serving as a fundamental intermediate step in this plan.
