André Ramos, André Tavares and Rogério Soares, all linked to SC Espinho, became vice-world champions in boccia representing the National Team. Portugal finished in second place in the BC1/BC2 team competition at the World Championship, held in Seoul, South Korea. André Ramos was part of the Portuguese team with Rogério Soares as his competition partner, while André Tavares coached the national team.
Portugal had an almost perfect run to the final. In the group stage, they won all three matches against Malaysia, Spain and Mexico, followed by victories over the Netherlands and China, which secured their place in the title decider.
In the final, Portugal was defeated by Indonesia 9-4, who thus claimed the world title. The Portuguese team thus returns to Espinho with the silver medal, representing a great achievement for national adapted sports.
