Partners censure Sánchez for his complacency with Rabat in the Ceuta crisis

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General3 September 2026 at 13:22

Congress left Pedro Sánchez alone during his appearance this Thursday to account for the Ceuta crisis. Both the opposition and the government's own investment partners joined in the criticism, beginning to abandon the executive at the beginning of what will be the last legislative session before the elections.

The main censure was directed at his alleged complacency with Rabat. All parliamentary groups, including Sumar, raised the tone and questioned the position of the head of government regarding the neighboring country, considering it a kind of surrender.

Sánchez refused to blame Morocco for the crisis, arguing, at least for now, the lack of evidence. The parliamentary groups agreed to see this posture as a capitulation before Rabat, in contrast to the position of the head of government.
