Richard Ríos left Benfica and joined Al Ittihad, on a loan that was officially announced late Wednesday night, after all the documentation was exchanged during the early hours. The Colombian midfielder ended up accepting the project presented by the Saudi club, despite having shown some hesitation regarding the change.
The agreement between the clubs was closed with a duration until the end of the 2026/27 season, with no purchase option for Al Ittihad. The operation generates around 4 million euros for the red treasury, thus relieving Benfica's finances.
Richard Ríos no longer took part in Wednesday's training session and is expected on Thursday in Saudi Arabia to join his new club. Al Ittihad will be responsible for the Colombian international's salary during the loan period, allowing the red SAD to relieve the salary costs associated with the player.
