The Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA) revealed that it expects hotel occupancy of 80% or higher in the region during the month of September. This forecast indicates a positive outlook for the Algarve tourism sector at the end of the high season.
The association acknowledges, however, that there has been a decrease in demand from Portuguese tourists in traditional hotels. This phenomenon represents a change in consumption habits in the domestic market.
AHETA considers that part of this Portuguese market may have directed their choices towards Local Accommodation, which has gained popularity in recent years as an alternative to conventional hotels.
The information was initially published by the Barlavento portal, specialized in news from the Algarve region.
