Two snow leopard cubs were born at Marwell Zoo in England in May this year, being the first of the species to be born at the location in 13 years. Thirteen weeks after birth, the cubs — the male Momo, whose name means "little dumpling" in Tibetan, and the female Nima, which means "sun" — took their first steps outside their shelter this month of August. The parents are Zaya, three years old, and Warjun, four years old.
The cubs began exploring the external environment after receiving their second dose of vaccines, which protect them from diseases. Senior carnivore keeper Ashleigh Ball stated that the animals underwent a health assessment and are gaining confidence to explore the environment.
