In February 2025, the BIRD company installed electric bikes and scooters in the city of Guarda as part of a pilot project. The goal was to understand the viability and use of this equipment by residents in the highest city in Portugal.
The pilot project was planned to last one year. During this period, BIRD's blue equipment was available for use by citizens and visitors to Guarda.
At this time, the pilot project has ended and the company's blue bikes are no longer seen around the city. The one-year experience allowed data to be collected on the population's adoption of this type of electric mobility.
Guarda was thus one of the Portuguese cities to test this shared transport model, although the concrete results of the initiative are not mentioned in the article.
