Norwegian authorities seized a Russian expedition cruise ship in Svalbard, in the Arctic, at the request of the Ukrainian state oil company Naftogaz. The operation was carried out within the framework of a court process to enforce an arbitral decision related to Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea.
Naftogaz is seeking Russian assets to satisfy a claim worth 4.2 billion dollars resulting from the Crimea dispute. The Ukrainian company intends to recover these funds through the seizure of Russian property and ships abroad.
