UN predicts a "very strong" El Niño with possible duration until February 2027

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) predicts an El Niño phenomenon classified as "very strong", with the possibility of extending until February 2027.

According to WMO data, global temperatures were, on average, 1.5 degrees Celsius above normal during the period between May and July 2026.

In July 2026, temperatures exceeded two degrees above normal, representing a significant rise compared to previous months.

The phenomenon raises concerns about the global climate impacts that could be felt in the coming months, if the forecast is confirmed.
