Algarve Tourism will award two scholarships to students of the Tourism Degree at the University of Algarve, resulting from a new cooperation protocol with the School of Management, Hospitality and Tourism. One of the scholarships has a social character and is intended for a student with economic difficulties who has completed secondary education in Portugal. The other will be awarded to the student with the best average in the first year of the degree.
Each scholarship will have a value equivalent to the annual tuition fees charged by the University of Algarve and may be renewed during the validity of the protocol, provided that proof of academic achievement is presented.
The president of Algarve Tourism, André Gomes, stated that the partnership aims to bring one of the main economic sectors of the region closer to the training of its future professionals, contribute to the training of these professionals and return value to the community. The protocol also provides for the possibility of internships at the end of the course and greater collaboration between Algarve Tourism, teachers and students.
The partnership arises in a context where the qualification of human resources is considered determinant for the competitiveness of Algarve tourism, seeking to contribute to the training of more prepared professionals and to the attraction and retention of talent in the region.
