It's official: Claudio Echeverri is a Benfica signing. The club from the Luz announced, on Wednesday night, the signing of the young Argentine creative player, who arrives from Manchester City on a season-long loan. The agreement between the two clubs also includes a purchase option set at 21 million euros, as Record reported. Benfica thus secures the possibility of securing the player's registration permanently at the end of the season.
At 20 years old, Echeverri arrives at the Luz to fight for a place in Marco Silva's attacking midfield. The Argentine international will have in Georgiy Sudakov one of the main contenders for a place in the eleven, in a position where the red-and-white coach has been looking for different solutions.
Claudio Echeverri was signed by Manchester City from River Plate in 2024 for 18.5 million euros, but has yet to establish himself in the Citizens' squad. Last season, the attacking midfielder was loaned to Bayer Leverkusen and Girona.
