The play "Baile do Mestre Cupijó - Onde Nasce o Siriá" is running a four-day season at CAIXA Cultural Rio de Janeiro. The sessions take place today, tomorrow, and Saturday at 7 PM, and on Sunday, the 6th, at 6 PM. The show is divided into four acts that move through the origins, transformations, and continuities of Siriá, a traditional dance from Pará.
Mestre Cupijó is presented as an icon of Pará music and a pioneer in spreading Amazonian rhythms. The play brings his musicality to the Rio audience, celebrating his cultural legacy. On Friday, after the performance, there will be a discussion circle with the members of Baile do Mestre Cupijó to discuss the importance of the master's work.
In addition to the musical performances, the event includes workshops, a documentary showcase, and an environmental educational action. The complete programming is available at www.caixacultural.gov.br or on the Instagram profile @caixaculturalrj.
