Nicolás Maduro invoked sovereign immunity and filed a motion to dismiss the legal proceedings he faces in the United States. The captured president of Venezuela wants all charges against him dismissed or at least the narco-terrorism conspiracy charge dropped.

The US Attorney's Office has until October 2nd to submit its responses to the motions filed by Maduro's defense. This deadline marks the next steps in the proceedings taking place in the United States.

Maduro is wanted by US authorities, who accuse him of links to drug trafficking and the Colombian FARC group. The charges include precisely the crime of narco-terrorism conspiracy, among other counts.
