The Polícia de Segurança Pública warned that the Lisbon area is operating with "minimum staff" to meet needs. The alert was issued by the PSP regarding the operational situation in the region.
Chief Superintendent Luís Elias was the figure who recalled the data on the scope of the deployment. This official highlighted that the Lisbon Metropolitan Command (Cometlis) covers nine municipalities.
The population covered by Cometlis is approximately three million people. This number represents a significant share of the Portuguese population concentrated in the Lisbon region.
The information about minimum staffing raises concerns about the PSP's response capacity in the most populous region of the country, where millions of citizens reside.
