The new political map of Burriana fails to unblock the 2026 budget

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General3 September 2026 at 05:35

Daniel Gutiérrez's departure from Vox and his move to the group of non-affiliated councilors again alters the political composition of Burriana town hall. This change is the latest to affect the plenary table of the town council, thus modifying the local political map.

However, this alteration in the composition of the plenary does not seem to open, at least for now, the door to a negotiation to approve the 2026 municipal budget. The budget was presented at the beginning of the year by the Popular Party executive, which governs in minority with eight councilors.

The PP executive continues without the necessary support in the plenaries to obtain approval of this budget. The minority governance situation makes it difficult to obtain the precise votes for the approval of fundamental budgetary documents for the functioning of the municipality.

Daniel Gutiérrez's latest move, moving from the Vox group to the non-attached councilors, represents another reconfiguration in a political scenario that remains without apparent solutions for the approval of Burriana's public accounts for the next year.
