The Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) of the Senate approved on Wednesday the constitutional amendment proposal (PEC) that ends the 6x1 work schedule. The text establishes that workers have five work days per week and two days off. The date for voting on the measure in the plenary of the House, however, has not yet been defined.
The rapporteur of the proposal, Senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), rejected all 36 amendments presented to the text in the CCJ. Aziz stated that he will work to have the matter voted on before the elections and requested a "special calendar" to accelerate the legislative process.
Federal government leaders are negotiating with the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), for the PEC to be voted on in the plenary right after the first round of elections, held on October 4. According to interlocutors, Alcolumbre is expected to announce on Thursday a kind of recess in Senate activities until the end of the electoral period, since the senators themselves will intensify their campaigns.
