Vorcaro: 'I thought I had built a system to protect myself, and everything turned against me'

Banker Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, stated in testimony to Supreme Federal Court Justice André Mendonça that, before being arrested, he believed he had built a "system" to protect himself, but that "everything turned" against him. The hearing was requested by the banker's own defense, which alleged he was suffering "serious intimidation." The testimony was revealed by columnist Bela Megale.

Vorcaro also declared that his mother and sister have been suffering "numerous death threats," however he did not present evidence of these threats to the authority. The banker's defense justified the request for testimony arguing that he was being intimidated.

On Wednesday night, the Attorney General's Office requested the dismissal of the charges against Vorcaro, which represents a significant development in the case involving the owner of Banco Master.

The new political map of Burriana fails to unblock the 2026 budget

The departure of Daniel Gutiérrez from Vox and his move to the group of non-attached councilors has again altered the composition of the Burriana town council. However, this latest change in the plenary does not seem to open, at least for now, the door to a negotiation to approve the 2026 municipal budget, presented at the beginning of the year by the PP executive (which governs in minority with eight councilors) and which continues without the necessary support for its approval.
