Hugo Soares defends Luís Neves, attacks Ventura and responds to Seguro: does not believe President "sends messages through friends"

Expresso3 September 2026 at 00:11

Hugo Soares, number two of PSD, defended Luís Neves, the Minister of the Presidency, and harshly criticized Chega. The social-democrat parliamentary leader considered "ridiculous" the motion presented by André Ventura's party and questioned why Chega's leader no longer speaks about the break-in at his office.

Soares also attacked André Ventura, expressing doubts about the existence of an alleged presidential ultimatum. The number two of PSD stated he does not believe the President of the Republic "sends messages through friends," referring to supposed messages that circulated in the political context.

The article comes in the context of tensions between the parties on the right and the possibility that the State Budget for 2025 may be rejected. Soares also responded to another condition set by PS to support the Budget, at a delicate moment of negotiations between the parties.

The new political map of Burriana fails to unblock the 2026 budget

The departure of Daniel Gutiérrez from Vox and his move to the group of non-attached councilors has again altered the composition of the Burriana town council. However, this latest change in the plenary does not seem to open, at least for now, the door to a negotiation to approve the 2026 municipal budget, presented at the beginning of the year by the PP executive (which governs in minority with eight councilors) and which continues without the necessary support for its approval.
