The workers of the Portuguese news agency LUSA reacted to the threats from Chega MP Pedro Frazão, who threatened to close the news agency if his party comes to power. In a statement, the Workers' Committee of LUSA stated that professionals will not be intimidated by these statements.
The Workers' Committee also demanded a clear position from the president of the Assembly of the Republic, Aguiar Branco, regarding the threats made by the Chega MP. The workers' representatives consider these statements serious and deserving institutional condemnation.
Pedro Frazão, MP for the Chega party, threatened to close LUSA, the Portuguese state news agency, if the party comes to power. This is not the first time the politician has made controversial statements about public media outlets.
