Flamengo defeated Mirassol 2-0 this Wednesday at Maracanã, in a delayed match from the 4th round of the Brasileirão. The goals were scored by Carrascal and Lucas Paquetá. The first came in a play started with a long ball from Erick Pulgar, where the ball went through Samuel Lino and Pedro before Carrascal finished inside the area. The second was a header from Paquetá into the corner of goalkeeper Walter's goal, after a cross from Carrascal, who had received the ball from Jorginho.
With the victory, Flamengo reached 51 points in the championship, staying just one point behind Palmeiras, who have 52. This is the smallest distance between the two title favorites since the first round. The red-and-black team now approaches the leadership with 13 rounds remaining until the end of the championship.
The second half of the match was marked by a drop in the team's performance, something that had been happening in other games, as the article indicates.
For the next round, Flamengo visits Remo on Sunday at 4 PM at Mangueirão. Palmeiras faces Botafogo on the same day at 6:30 PM at Nilton Santos.
