Portela holds on this Friday (4) the selection of the parade samba that will take to the Marquês de Sapucaí at Carnival 2027. Three partnerships have reached the final phase of the competition, which started with 36 registered works and brought together over 200 composers. The program begins at 10 PM, at the school's rehearsal hall, in Oswaldo Cruz.
The evening will have a special format to celebrate Monarco, the Portela legend who will be honored with the parade theme "To the master, with love." Before the school's show and the presentations of the finalist sambas, Portela will hold a samba circle in the middle of the rehearsal hall, bringing musicians and audience closer together in a configuration different from the one traditionally adopted in samba-enredo finals.
The proposal is to recreate the environment that marked Monarco's musical career. The repertoire brings together compositions by the legend, such as "Passado de Glória" (Glory's Past) and "Coração em Desalinho" (Heart in Disarray), as well as sambas that have traversed different generations of the blue and white school's history. Then, the rehearsal hall hosts Portela's show, with the participation of the school's segments.
